Quality schooling for orphaned and vulnerable children, from early learning through secondary. No child turned away for lack of fees. Every desk filled, every mind engaged.

Breakfast, lunch, and supper for every student. Many walk long distances — no one learns on an empty stomach. Nutrition is the foundation of focus.

From Orphanage
to Opportunity

BrightRoots began with a simple conviction: every child deserves a desk, and every woman deserves a trade. What started as a small shelter has grown into a thriving centre of learning and enterprise in Lusaka.

"We do not believe in handouts. We believe in hand-ups — giving people the tools, nutrition, and knowledge to build their own futures."

Our students come from distances. Our women leave with skills. Our community grows stronger every day. This is not charity. This is investment in human potential.

One Year at a Time

From a single room to a thriving community hub — our story is one of persistence, love, and growth.

2018

The Beginning

Started as a small shelter for orphaned children in Lusaka with just 12 students and one volunteer teacher.

2020

The Kitchen Opens

Launched our daily meal program after realizing children were fainting from hunger during lessons.

2022

Women's Skills Centre

Opened vocational training for older women — tailoring, agriculture, and basic business skills.

2024

Business School Launch

Formalized business education with bookkeeping, marketing, and digital literacy courses.

2026

200+ Strong

Now serving over 200 children daily with education, meals, and a pathway to self-reliance.

The Learning Centre
